Things To Do

National Mall

National Mall

Washington, DC 20024

While the ceremony will be at the National Mall, we recommend setting aside time to explore the rest of it! The Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and Jefferson Memorial are all within walking distance of each other and beautiful sights to see. Walking around the Tidal Basin will give a beautiful view of the fall foliage. Use the metro and get off at Smithsonian and it'll bring you right to the mall!

National Gallery of Art

National Gallery of Art

6th St and Constitution Ave NW, Washington, DC 20565

This is where we took our engagement pictures! No reservation needed, just walk in and stay as long as you want. Definitely recommend this for art and history lovers, there is also an outdoor sculpture garden that we recommend checking out.

Library of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building

Library of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building

10 1st Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Worth the stop for beautiful architecture and a breath taking hall! We went on a date here when we first moved in together and had so much fun. If you're in DC on a Thursday reserve a free ticket ahead of time for an after hours happy hour! (This books up fast so check early!)

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

10th St. & Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560

Fun museum to drop in for an hour or spend the afternoon. All Smithsonian museums have free entry and most are walkable from each other! Get off at Smithsonian Metro stop and you'll be right in the National Mall where most of the Smithsonian museums are.

The Wharf DC

The Wharf DC

760 Maine Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

The Wharf has tons of restaurants, bars, seafood, and great views. Enjoy the views of the Potomac while eating delicious food and sipping a good cocktail. It's accessible via the Waterfront or L'Enfant Metro stations but it's a bit of a walk to the main area so recommend using ride share apps.

Rasika

Rasika

633 D Street NW, Washington, DC 20004

Our favorite Indian spot! A Michelin Guide restaurant, this place is definitely worth trying. Recommend getting a reservation beforehand. The palak chaat (crispy spinach) and garlic naan are a must!! There are two locations, Penn Quarter and West End.

Dacha Beer Garden (Shaw)

Dacha Beer Garden (Shaw)

1600 7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Who doesn't love a beer garden in the fall? They have multiple locations but Shaw is a fun neighborhood to explore! With fun murals, bright row homes, and rich history, Shaw is worth the visit.
