Mark and Sarah met at the University of Cincinnati when they were freshman in 2015. They entered as business majors and coincidentally joined the same business fraternity their freshman fall semester. When they met as young 18-year old's they had no idea they would be meeting their best friend and future spouse. It wasn't until a spring fraternity formal at Buckhorn Lake for them to truly realize how good of friends they were going to be. After that weekend they would see each other or talk to each other on a daily basis. Even when Sarah moved home to Columbus for the summer that didn't stop them from talking on the phone every day. As they entered their third year Mark caught feelings for Sarah (for good reason). They were each other’s dates to fraternity/sorority events and even had their childhood dogs pass away on the same day. In the spring of 2018 Sarah had to remind Mark that they were just friends however that didn't stop their love story. After months of trying to escape the label "friends" Mark tried his best to show Sarah he was the one for her. It took one date at the Eagle in before school was out for Sarah to realize being just friends wasn't going to happen. In the fall of 2018 they started officially dating, Sarah graduated that following spring and moved back to Columbus with their dog Duke. As Mark entered his senior year, they had the difficulty of doing a long-distance relationship. However, in spring of 2020 for senior spring break, Mark went up to visit Sarah for the week but never returned to campus. COVID cancelled the rest of Mark's senior year and Sarah had a roommate that couldn't pay rent. As Mark graduated that spring their relationship really became one, they lived in a small duplex with their dog and worked from home every day for over a year. In summer of 2021 they decided to move from Columbus to Cincinnati, after the move they wanted to say goodbye to their first home and pick up Duke from doggy daycare, but Sarah had something other than a Britta to grab from their old home. It was the longest hour and a half of Mark’s life knowing what was about to happen. As Mark opened the door Sarah jokingly asked if he had a ring in his pocket, Mark replied “no it’s in there”, as he opened the door Sarah was in shock to see their old home decorated with photos of all their favorite memories, candles, and flowers, with a ring in the center of the room. They moved back to Cincinnati officially as engaged couple and started their next chapter as Cincinnatians.
