How We Met

OKCupid

Christy Version: We matched on the dating app OKCupid. I liked his profile pic because he was holding a book upside down with a candle and I thought it was hilarious!! Joshua asked me how I liked the pedal party since one of my pictures was me on the pedal party. I liked that because he actually was trying to strike up a conversation then just the typical "you're hot" LOL. He was charming, hilarious, handsome and persistent. I almost didn't go out with him because he had to reschedule with me and I just thought..OMG who does he think he is?! But, I decided I would go for it because I really wanted to meet him! BUT I told him he better have flowers for me and a bone for Bentley. He waited 2 hours for me at El Tiempo (bc of the horrible rain we were having and because he didn't want to be late) and probably a little more because of course I was running late on purpose. We were both so nervous and he took the food to go..GASP..lol. But I knew he was a keeper..when he actually had a rose and a bone waiting for me when I arrived! HOW SWEET. Joshua Version: When Christy and I matched on OKCupid I couldn't believe it at first I was a little worried about getting catfished or maybe that she was blind, but thought it was worth a shot. I had to cancel our first date because I forgot that I was supposed to help my friend move (thanks Kevin), but luckily she gave me another chance. She showed up two hours late (probably as punishment for canceling the first date), but luckily El Tiempo has good margaritas and free chips. What I remember from our first date is that Christy is a great story teller and also didn't eat very much fajita meat (a plus plus). I started the night with a lonely margarita and end it with a fluttery heart and a to-go box full of food.

The Proposal

5-29-18

When I asked Christy to move in with me and my two cats she was very hesitant. It was a big move for her to move from her little apartment in the hip Montrose area to my luxurious house in Spring with a Walmart view. She promised she would do it as long as I proposed to her within a year, at first I was hesitant, but figured that I would give it a try. Within a few months of living together I knew that I had gotten the better end of the deal. Over our year of living together I got to learn a lot about my future wife from the fact that she makes awesome eggs (and little else) and that when she drinks she has to have taco bell. As time went on I fell more in love, but in classic Josh style I lost track of time and with two months left on my deadline I contacted her friend Swan to help me design a ring. Luckily by that time Christy had dropped a bunch of hints and I knew she wanted the "Blake Lively" ring, Swan did an awesome job designing the ring and all I had to do was come up with a good proposal. I googled proposals and thought of proposing on our trip to New York or San Francisco, but decided there was no better place to do it than our luxurious Spring Mansion (specifically our bathroom). While she was away at her sister's bachelorette party I decorated the bathroom with pictures of us, her friends and family, roses and candles. I knew that our puppies had to be part of the proposal and got them tuxedos. The day she got back from Syna's bachelorette party I had everything ready including champagne in the fridge, but the one detail I forgot to plan out was how to get her into the bathroom. Being the quick thinker that I am I called her asking if she would bring toilet paper down and the rest is history.
