Quilla

Matron of Honor

"I’m Quilla, Kira’s older and favorite sister obviously "matron of honor" Jk—and, for better or worse, the one who’s had the honor of watching her grow into the woman she is today. When I’m not proudly embarrassing her, I’m a wife, mom to two amazing kids—Kobe and Amora—and a licensed professional counselor specializing in adolescent behavioral health. I spend my days helping teens navigate life’s challenges, but let’s be real: Kira provided me with years of practice first! I’m beyond excited to celebrate my little sister’s big day and watch her embark on this amazing new chapter with Evan." Fun fact: In my free time, I love cooking, painting, and listening to music—basically, anything that gives me an excuse to avoid folding laundry.

Kenzi

Maid of Honor

"Hi! I’m Kenzi, the Maid of Honor! I met Kira when I was a junior in high school and she was a freshman in college! We both went to church and hit it off!!" Fun fact: I love creating things! That’s why my degree is in entrepreneurship and small business!

Nia

Bridesmaid

"Kira and I met during our time at Wayland Baptist University and, while I don’t remember our first time meeting, I do remember seeing her jeep around campus with the eyelashes on the headlights and thinking, “Man this girl is extra.” Soon after, we were going to FBC college nights together and spending hours walking around Walmart. Kira, Evan, and I have made many memories together, and I’m excited to celebrate with them on their big day!" Fun fact: I'm left-handed, but I play sports with my right hand!

Jaylee

Bridesmaid

"Kira and I first met in 2022 at Koinonia during pioneer traditions. However, our friendship started at First Baptist Plainview in a small room leading the 7th & 8th grade girls every Wednesday night. Kira quickly became one of my bestest friends. I have always admired her faith and desire to glorify God through everything she does. She is truly an inspiration!" Fun fact: I am a dog mom of two! I plan to open a bakery in the future called PHAT Rolls!

Dawson

Bridesmaid

"Kira and I met at Wayland Baptist University! Her sweet spirit and contagious laughter is what drew me in, but now I know I have a forever best friend that will challenge me and cheer me on!!" Fun fact: I love to travel, experience new things, and might even be considered an adrenaline junky! (If anyone wants to go skydiving let me know!)

Aliyah

Bridesmaid

"Hey! My name's Aliyah, I’m one of the two younger sisters of Kira. I have the honor of being a bridesmaid for my amazing older sister! I am currently a Junior at WT where I am majoring in Social Work and plan to obtain my LCSW to specialize in mental health! I have always looked up to Kira. Her kindness and unwavering love has helped shaped me into the person I am today. I couldn’t be more happier to stand by her side on this special day as she embarks on this beautiful journey with her fiancé and soon to be husband, Evan!" Fun fact: I enjoy reading a good book or watching a movie/show!

Aleyah

Bridesmaid

"I'm one of Kira's youngest sisters, Aleyah, and I have the honor to be one of her bridesmaids. I currently attend WTAMU as a social work major and plan on getting my teachers license later on! Kira is someone I have looked up to for years as her being my older sister and I can’t wait to stand beside her on her special day and celebrate her love!" Fun fact: I love to ride around late at night and listen to old school R&B music!

Josh

Best Man

"Hello, my name is Joshua. I’m 24 years old and have two little ones. I’ve been in the Army for nearly six years now. Evan is my older brother and I have a ton of memories from growing up together. One memory that always sticks with me is from elementary school when some bullies hung both of us on a gate by our shirts. For a second grader Evan was still a big guy—his shirt ripped, and he managed to get free. But me? I wasn’t so lucky. I just hung there, stuck, while he got away. Looking back, it’s funny now, but at the time, it definitely wasn’t! More than ever I’m happy to see my brother get married."

Alafia

Groomsman

"Alafia Bailey—a brotha who strives to write like Zora and teach like Carr. A scholar of Africana cultural ways of knowing and African meaning-making. A Southerner on the East Coast. Soon-to-be Howard grad. A follower of Christ. See, y’all don’t know Evan like I do. Me and Evan met 3,000 years ago in Timbuktu, met again in Senegal, met again on the ship, met again on the bridge in Selma. And we met again in 2017 at Westfield High School, freestyling—expressing our stories and struggles through rhythm and flow. Evan was the best at it. While another brotha made a beat—fists or pencils tapping against the Westfield lockers—Evan was freestyling like he was straight off the Nawfside of Houston. His words touched the souls of the men in that locker room. Then they touched mine. And that’s when I met him. And we’ve been rapping and freestyling ever since. We might just bust one at the wedding."

Brandon

Groomsman

"Brandon. Christian. Husband. Youth Pastor. 1 half of famous Hip Hop group, Cookies and cream. Evan and I met after a chapel service, in which Evan was the drummer of the band. After the service I went to glaze his drumming skills, and get to know him better. Been good friends ever since that moment."

Kyle

Groomsman

"My name is Kyle Sumner, and Evan and I became friends at Wayland Baptist University. I distinctly remember seeing Evan on campus, but we never shared classes, schedules, friend groups, etc. For the majority of my time at Wayland, Evan and I were strangers. During my senior year at Wayland, I decided to reach out and try to become friends with Evan because I needed more friends besides my wife and my dog. While this was a good gesture, asking Evan to coffee or lunch to get to know one another… Evan thought I was “Zesty” for asking. Either way, he reluctantly decided to get to know me, and I can say without a doubt Evan is now one of my closest friends and brothers in Christ. Through our friendship, Evan and I have bonded over shared interests and differences. One of these times, I introduced Evan to disc golf and pickleball, to which he said, “What will white people think of next?” All jokes aside, Evan and I went from sharing nothing in common to being close friends. I’m thankful for my friendship with Evan, even if, at one point, he thought I was a little bit “Zesty.” Congratulations to him and Kira on their big day! I’m excited to see how God will use their marriage to change the world."

Njenga

Groomsman

"I’m Njenga (like the game). I have the pleasure of meeting Evan Twice in life. The first time was at Wayland Baptist where I would see him in similar athletic friend groups, the dorm (which we stayed in the same one), and where I met him first, the music hall. Evan came to the music building to ask if he could practice his piano skills. The answer was yes. I always enjoyed hearing him practice gospel music around campus. The second time was at Jackrabbit Grill after 3-4 years of no contact and that has started our continued friendship to now. I never expected him to step into my life again, but I am thankful for his friendship."
