Due to current restrictions, we've made the difficult decision to postpone the wedding celebration while continuing with a private ceremony. This was a heartbreaking decision. When it comes down to it, a marriage is a commitment of two people and a wedding is a party that can be rescheduled, so that is the route we have decided to take. We are devastated to of had to make this decision, but we also do not want to put our lives on hold during such uncertain times. We are choosing us. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to you and thank you for understanding and supporting our decision. While we have many ideas in the works to celebrate with all of you as soon as things are back to normal, our big plan is to renew our vows in 5 years (Friday, October 10th, 2025) and have our much-anticipated wedding reception then. We will be sure to follow up with details as events are planned.
It all started with a mindless swipe, a few too many beers, a lot of good laughs and some unfortunate dance moves. The rest is history!
Mike, being the family man that is he, knew how important it would be to Emily for him to ask her father's permission before bending the knee. For those of you who don’t know Tony Silva, you should know he isn't as tech savvy as his future son in law... so when Mike texted Tony asking if they could meet up, Tony's natural response to a text from an unknown number was, "Heading south", indicating he was heading to the Cape and couldn’t be bothered. The next morning when Tony realized who was texting him and what the reason might be for this unprompted text, he felt terrible and tried to call Mike multiple times. During these unanswered morning phone calls, Emily was in the midst of her “I am going to annoy Mike routine” which was longer than usual due to the fact he was working from home that day. Finally, when Emily left, the two men spoke. They agreed to meet the following Monday, where Mike got Tony’s permission to ask for Emily’s hand in marriage. The following Monday, Mike decided to work from home again, which was odd for the social butterfly, so Emily assumed something unusual was going on. Not to mention the fact that over the weekend he kept suggesting she get her nails done, where she repeatedly responded, “Don’t tell me what to do” and “You’re not the boss of me” in typical Emily fashion. At the end of the day when she came home from the gym, she noticed she couldn’t hear the TV from the hallway, which was DEFINITELY unusual. When she walked in the door, Mike started a playlist of Emily’s favorite songs, the ones usually reserved for slow dancing in the living room. There were rose petals and candle light leading to the coffee table. Mike walked her to the coffee table where there was a wine bottle proposal set up. He said a small speech (that neither of them remember), got on his knee and asked Emily to marry him, to which she responded “Are you sure?”.
