The Meldrums

Jeff and Haley matched on Facebook Dating and went on their first date at One Eyed Betty's in Ferndale (Jeff lovingly refers to the restaurant as One Eyed Willy's). Jeff was very out of his element in the city, and Haley had experienced her share of online dating fails prior to that day. After dinner, Jeff and Haley went to walk around the Zoo Lights at the Detroit Zoo. A few weeks later: Jeff invites Haley to spend New Year's Eve with his family (who she is meeting for the first time). It was an evening full of games, laughter, and swapping stories about Jeff's childhood. That night, they decided to make their relationship official. What a day to choose for an anniversary! Fast forward to early 2022: Jeff buys a house in Lapeer, with Haley moving in a few months later. Jeff gets an English setter puppy (Beau) who instantly makes a name for himself with his goofy personality and sweet, loving eyes. They are living their dream of fishing on their neighborhood lake, growing their own vegetables and making countless delicious things from them, and going on mini-adventures to all kinds of places. Finally, June 2024: Haley plans a trip to Hocking Hills State Park, where her friend Lauren (coincidentally) got engaged the year prior. They scope out places to hike, drink, and enjoy their time as a couple. On June 22, 2024, after three breathtaking hikes in the raging heat of early summer, Jeff proposes to Haley in front of their tiny cabin AirBnb. We won't narrate Haley's exact response...but it ended in a wholehearted YES! Jeff and Haley are so excited to celebrate their union with everyone they love. This is only the beginning, and they can't wait to write the rest of their story.
