It was The Fashion 500 and I was trying to promote a colleague of mine's work so I wore her blazer to the event and invited her out to network. I took an uber up to the Hudson hotel and placed my phone on the charger, as I was just intended to breeze through. I get upstairs to realize I left my phone on the charger and have no idea how to contact the driver so now my night is RUINED! But was it? lol I run into my photographer friend Jah who stopped me for a picture, I wore red wide leg pants and the darn pant leg kept getting stuck under my shoe, killing my moment! Then I felt someone pull at my pant leg adjusting it, I look up take the picture, and it's the shot of the night! I turn around and say "who are you, and what do you do?" It's this tall glass of chocolate milk, Jason Jack McCoy! Smiling, and introducing himself, I instantly take him to my colleague like hey this guy is a stylist, you guys talk and I'll be back. I intended to track my phone, a little later in the evening I run into Jason again and asked if he was alone, turns out we both were. I asked if he wanted to join me downstairs to accompany me as I tracked down my phone. We ended up getting so lost in conversation that two hours later I forgot I was supposed to return the blazer I was wearing. I took his card and we went separate ways. I was in my last semester of school during this time, I was searching in my bag for a pencil when I found his business card which was almost about a week later. I text him from my iPad "Hi Jason it's Label I just found your card and was thinking I enjoyed our conversation" he instantly text me back, "Hi Label, I was thinking about you, I did as well!" We would later meet in soho to chat and set up an official date at Mercer Kitchen. I told my self the next person I met would know the good, bad, and ugly about me, so that's exactly what I did. He surprisingly did the same, and we've been inseparable ever since!
