"One day", is a phrase that was said often between us. I would ask Hunter to marry me many times over the years. His response was always, "One day." We spent the day on the beach in Mexico while enjoying the clear skies, exploring, and sharing memories of our past. The sun began to set and we made our way to the room to get ready for dinner. We had a bit of time to spare, so Hunter took my hand and guided me through the sea of guests towards the soft white sand beach. We walked for a bit until we found a pier that stretched out over the ocean. As we walked further towards the edge, we both became quiet. I remember looking out and feeling a sense of calm. Hunter wrapped his arms around me and asked, "If you could wish for one thing right now, what would it be?" It did not take even a second for me to turn around and blurt out, "I want to travel more! I want a new job! I want to move!" I went on and on until I said, "I want to get married!" Hunter then asked, "And what do we have to do before we do that?" Confused, I answered with, "Call my mom?" He shook his head. "Call your mom?", I continued. Hunter shook his head again. "Get engaged?" As I begun to tear up, Hunter responded, "One day." I turned back towards the ocean, frustrated that I fell for it again. But as I turned back around, he was down on one knee, ring in hand and said, "That one day is today."
