Written by: Marco Camarena, Groomsman When Sarah and Colton called and asked me to write a letter that captures “their story,” I was incredibly honored. I’m lucky to call them both two of my best friends and have had the privilege of being part of their journey from the very beginning. Being around Colton or Sarah, it’s immediately clear why they work so well together and why their relationship is special. Sarah is kind, hardworking, ambitious, caring, funny, and lovable. And Colton? He’s just as kind, just as hardworking, just as ambitious, just as caring… not quite as funny, but still an absolutely wonderful person. Fun fact: I actually met Sarah before Colton did. We started working at ADP on the same day - where Colton also worked - and I liked her instantly. She was easy to get to know, and since we were both new, we naturally leaned on each other those first few weeks. Meanwhile, Colton and I were already best friends and roommates, so we spent a lot of time together talking about life, work, and, occasionally, our coworkers. I still remember a particular conversation we had about Sarah. As part of our company training, Sarah and I traveled to New Jersey for a few days. Since we were the only two from the Houston office, we stuck together. One night, we took the train to New York because Sarah had never been. Over dinner, our conversation turned personal, and to this day, I think of that night as the true beginning of our friendship. The more she shared about her life, her mindset, and her aspirations, the more I kept thinking, “this girl would be perfect for Colton.” After one or two margaritas, I even told her that exact thought. In my defense, I knew Colton well enough to have a pretty good idea of what his ideal partner looked like. When I got back home, I told Colton about our trip and mentioned how cool “Sarah from the office” was. Little did I know that same cool girl would one day become his fiancé. Not long after, we all went out for a coworker’s birthday, where both Colton and Sarah were in attendance. It didn’t take long to see that these two were into each other. If you know Colton, you know he’s an introverted extrovert—easy to get to know, but reserved at first. That night, though? That wasn’t the case. He and Sarah hit it off instantly. The next morning, we spent 30 minutes trying to figure out what Colton should text her to start a conversation. Once we landed on the perfect message, their first official date followed… and the rest was history. From that moment on, they were inseparable. Sarah brought out a side of Colton I had never seen before. He would leave our apartment and come back happier than when he left. He spoke about her in a way anyone would be lucky to be spoken about. He turned soft on us - in the best way possible. When Colton told me he and Sarah were moving in together, I was genuinely happy for them. Living with your partner is a big step, but I had no doubt they’d be great at it. Their relationship had a solid foundation built on an even stronger friendship. So, when Colton later shared his plans to propose, Kasey and I were overjoyed. We didn’t know exactly how we could help - only that we wanted to make the moment special for Sarah. And then, the day finally came. Colton got down on one knee, and we were lucky enough to have a front-row seat. Watching that moment unfold was nothing short of beautiful. Now, we’re just months away from closing out the first chapter of their love story, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been a small part of it. As we look ahead to the many exciting and beautiful chapters that Sarah and Colton will continue to write - alongside the handsome Boone - I can honestly say I couldn’t be happier for my two friends. And I thank them both for making each other so incredibly happy because they both deserve it.
