The first time we met was a trip to the lake hosted by our mutual friends during the summer of 2020. This trip to the lake was unique in that Kate was the first new person I had met in quite a long time…given the pandemic and all that. After that first meeting, we really didn’t have any communication until right around the new year of 2021. Our mutual friends had planned a New Year’s Eve/ birthday party event and both of us were invited. Kate and I hit it off over our mutual interest in small business. Kate began by telling me about her passion for movies and how cool it would be to start a movie theater someday. This piqued my interest and we chatted for the rest of the night. And much like the movies, at the end of the night, we shared a New Years kiss and the rest is history.

Evan was in our car to go to the lake a few summers ago and I was told he “probably wouldn’t say much” (he didn’t). Later, around Christmastime, Marissa kept going on and on about how great Evan was! I was determined to pester him into being my best friend at the upcoming New Year’s Eve party. However, I walked into dinner, saw him, and chickened out. He was too cute! Once I got the courage, we ended up talking for hours…a New Year’s kiss is better than a new best friend anyway!
