It all started in 2023 when Anna was on a walk. She was talking with the Lord about how worried she was that she would never find her future husband. Because this was such a big desire of her heart, she started praying boldly about the man the Lord had for her. Anna asked that he would be humble, kind, a spiritual leader, and in love with Jesus. She decided to create a God sign...one that when she saw it, she would know her husband was out there, the Lord was preparing him, and he would come to her at the exact right time. This sign was a blue flower with a red center...random, but it was what the Lord put on her heart. After she said 'amen' and continued her walk, she spotted a blue flower with a red center that had been painted underneath the bridge she happened to be running past. This would be the first of many times the Lord would keep His promise.
A full year passed. Anna and Nik were living ten minutes from one another, working their jobs, navigating their 20's, and both attending the University of Georgia. The two of them were athletes growing up and, with a sudden rise in pickleball popularity, they found themselves at the same courts over the summer. The two hit it off (no pun intended) and became good friends with Nik gaining the nickname 'Pickleball Nik' by all her church friends.
'Pickleball Nik' started coming to Athens Church, where Anna was an intern at the time, and this led to Anna inviting him as her plus one to the staff Christmas party.
From this point on, the two became closer as they learned more about each other and their shared love for Jesus. Nik fell for Anna's personality - the joy and the light that radiated from her. He saw Jesus more clearly because of her, and he quickly knew she was the woman he would marry. For Anna, it became abundantly clear that Nik was the answer to the Lord's sweetest promise, that He was capable of abundantly more.
The happy couple officially started dating February 3rd of 2024. Shortly after, when the two were on their way to meet Nik's parents, Anna happened to catch a glimpse of a blue flower with a red center on the way to dinner. She knew this was the beginning of the Lord's guidance and blessing over their union. Anna kept this sign between her and the Lord, intending to tell him the story of the Lord's goodness when the time was right.
Fast forward one year later, Anna and Nik were praying diligently about the Lord's blessing over their union. The Lord made it clear to Anna that her sign would now mean something different...that when she saw it again, she would know that he had given His stamp of approval for them to take the step towards engagement. On Valentine's Day, while at Nik's parent’s house, Anna spotted a plate in the house covered in the Lord's blessing of blue flowers with red centers.
Two months later, Nik asked Anna to marry him on April 5th - promising to pursue her heart the way the Lord does for the rest of his life. On this same day, Anna finally shared the details with Nik of the Lord's kindness that has been blessing their relationship long before they even knew each other's names. The Lord's gracious hand has covered and guided them both as individuals and in their union. They are beyond excited to further the Kingdom together as husband and wife! With our marriage, it is our deepest desire that our guests feel the presence of Jesus throughout our day. We are quick to give glory to our gracious, Heavenly Father - who is the author of our story. We pray that the Lord would receive all the honor and glory for the greatest blessing we have been given, each other.
