“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” — Psalm 37:23 Looking back on our story, it’s so clear that God was working in the smallest of details that led us to each other. What are the chances that we’d both end up playing ball at the same small junior college in Mississippi? Both of our recruiting journeys had their share of ups and downs, but in the end, they led us to MS Gulf Coast. We officially met in February 2021 and started dating that March. Life was good. We were playing the game we loved alongside some of our closest friends and getting to cheer each other on in the process. When we weren’t on the field, we were playing spike ball in the facility or grabbing 4-for-4’s from Wendy’s. It was a simple and sweet season, and it flew by. Before we knew it, our seasons ended, and it was time to move home and transfer schools. Two months into our relationship, we started long-distance. For the next two years, we were hours apart — first 3.5, then 2.5. It wasn’t easy, but God was faithful through it all, teaching us patience, loyalty, faithfulness, and trust. Then in August 2023, we were both given an opportunity we never expected: a chance to transfer to the same small university, finish our degrees, and close out our athletic careers together. Twice now, the Lord has aligned our paths in ways that we couldn't have expected. Attending UM together was so much fun. We no longer had to make memories in different places. The summer between our first and second years at UM (June 2024), Alex pulled off the sweetest surprise proposal. It was everything I ever dreamed of. We were so excited, we picked our wedding date the very next day. Ever since, we have been counting down to September 20th. Thank you, Jesus, for writing a story better than we could have imagined and for being in every detail from the very beginning.
