Sebastian and I rang in the New Year together, before we even knew it. We met just after midnight on New Year’s Eve 2023 (which technically makes it New Year’s Day 2024), at none other than the iconic Versace Mansion in Miami Beach. A pretty magical way to start a new year… and a new chapter. While the music played and the dance floor was buzzing, our moms were quietly working behind the scenes. Sebastian’s mom struck up a conversation with my family, and before long, she and my mom discovered they shared the same first name, Andrea. We’re convinced that was fate’s first clue, gently nudging our worlds together. Not long after, an extremely tall (and adorably shy) Sebastian was gently pulled into the spotlight and introduced to me. With both sets of parents watching closely, we were strongly encouraged to exchange numbers. My mom, in classic mom fashion, insisted, “You better get her number! If not, she’ll never text you.” Naturally, I texted him that very night… mostly to prove her wrong. From that first message on, we haven’t gone a single day without talking. What began as a seemingly chance meeting on a dance floor was anything but random—it was the start of something we couldn’t imagine life without, and the best New Year’s resolution we never had to make.
