For months, Teddy had been asking the same question every day: "Tell me something you love about me today." Sometimes the answers were serious- I love how you make me laugh, how you make me feel loved, how you support me when things are hard. More often, the answers were less serious- I love when you make me grilled cheese sandwiches, I love that you're going to do the dishes tonight, I love that you don't bother me during my favorite TV show. Over the course of living together, answering that question for each other became part of our daily routine. Very much on a whim, we decided to fly up to Spokane and spend a long weekend visiting wineries in Chelan. On the morning we left for Chelan, Kylie's mom asked Teddy- so when are you guys getting engaged? "I don't know, I don't think Kylie has asked my parents for permission yet," Teddy said. Denise rolled her eyes and very quickly gave up on that line of questioning. Our Airbnb in Chelan, although booked incredibly last minute, ended up being an adorable Italian inspired villa on a hill overlooking the lake. We were both so excited to spend our weekend on the back porch, taking in the sweeping views with a bottle of Chelan's finest wine. But first, Kylie was cranky from our 3 hour car ride and needed a snack, so we hit the grocery store to stock up. Somewhere in our cart of provisions, Teddy snuck in two bottles of champagne. Kylie even asked, "What are those for? We never drink champagne" but somehow still had no idea what was going on. Teddy was able to pass it off as a "special vacation drink," and miraculously Kylie had still not caught on. When we returned to the airbnb, Kylie was much happier after getting out to the back porch with a plate of cheese and crackers. Teddy decided to pour them each a glass of wine and meet her outside, where they sat to watch a gorgeous Chelan sunset over the lake. Then, Teddy asked a familiar question- what do you love about me today? Kylie, always a romantic, told him: "I love that you drove the whole trip today so I could take a nap in the car." Then she asked him to answer the same question- what do you love about me today? As soon as Teddy started to answer, Kylie knew what she had failed to see all weekend long and started crying all her mascara off onto Teddy's shirt. Then Teddy asked her a different question- will you marry me? Of course the answer was yes. After more than four years together, we can't wait to start our next chapter as husband and wife, because truth is- we love pretty much everything about each other.
