The River District is the heart of Downtown Fort Myers and one of our favorite areas to wander around! Stroll along the historic streets, pop into local shops, grab a bite or a drink, and check out the murals and historic buildings along the way.
One of our favorite breweries downtown! If you’re not sure what to order, Jessica’s pick is the Homeport Honey Wheat, while Jordan goes for “the closest thing to a Bud Light.”
One of our favorite spots to grab a drink and look out over the water! Beacon Social Drinkery is a rooftop bar at the Luminary Hotel with great views of Downtown Fort Myers and the river. Seating is first come, first served, so there may be a wait during busier times.
Once the winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, the property has historic homes, beautiful gardens, a museum and Edison’s laboratory to explore.
Manatee Park is about 20 minutes from Downtown Fort Myers and a fun spot to hopefully see some manatees while you’re in town! During the “cooler” winter months, manatees are drawn to the warm water in the canal next to the park. January is prime manatee season, so there’s a good chance you’ll spot a few!
Fort Myers Beach is the closest Gulf beach to Downtown Fort Myers if you want to hit the beach for the day! It’s about a 35–40 minute drive without traffic, but traffic to and from the beach can be pretty significant during peak season in January.
