Sara & Jonathan met Sara's first year at GMU when she joined InterVarsity and they were both elected to the leadership team at the end of her first semester there. Well, Sara remembers seeing him for the first time at the Kings Dominion Halloween Haunt with a group from IV and thinking he was cute, but Jonathan claims to not remember. After a year of serving together, becoming friends, and spending lots of time together, both at IV events and killing time together after meetings- Jonathan asked Sara to go see the Christmas tree lighting in Old Town Fairfax. A month and a few dates later he asked her to officially be his girlfriend in a coffeeshop in Old Town Manassas.

For their 4 year anniversary Jonathan planned a date for us to spend the afternoon in Old Town Manassas- the same place he asked me to be his girlfriend. After lunch at the Philadelphia Tavern, Jonathan willingly went ice skating with me (which is a big deal). While I loved it, Jonathan was distracted by texting on his phone every few minutes until I told him to put it away before he dropped it on the ice or got run over by the other skaters there. Little did I know. As we were leaving the rink, Jonathan stopped us in front of the big LOVE sign downtown and pulled out a letter for me to read. At the very end he wrote 'The time has come' and asked me to marry him. Which I of course said yes to. It turns out, he had been texting his siblings and friends of ours to coordinate them for photos & a video of the proposal. Afterwards, we went back to my house where several of my friends, and later family members were gathered to celebrate our engagement.
