Our Love Story

Cameron and Madeline first crossed paths during their freshman year of high school at a TCU baseball game. From that very moment, an undeniable spark ignited between them. After a few weeks of lively FaceTimes and phone conversations, Cameron invited Madeline on their first date to see the movie Rings. Shortly thereafter, Cameron needed to prioritize baseball, which led them to part ways. A few years later, destiny brought them together once more at another TCU baseball game. The chemistry between them was as palpable as it had been before. They embarked on what felt like a second “first date” at Mellow Mushroom, followed by a snow cone just down the street. It was clear that their connection was stronger than ever. Their relationship blossomed, and on June 5, 2018, Cameron officially asked Madeline to be his girlfriend. Throughout high school, they stood by each other’s side, cheering each other on at baseball, football, and volleyball games whenever they weren’t occupied with their own practices and matches. After high school, they faced the challenge of a long-distance relationship for four years, separated by the opposite ends of Texas. Despite this, they maintained their connection through nightly FaceTimes and phone calls. After being together for just over five years, both knew in their hearts that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Just before their engagement, Cameron inquired about Madeline’s reasons for wanting to marry him. After sharing her thoughts, she turned the question back to him. He cryptically responded, “I’m gonna save that for when the time is right.” As Madeline’s final semester approached, she visited Cameron at West Texas A&M, blissfully unaware of his plan to propose that weekend. They enjoyed dinner and snow cones—an echo of their first date. Cameron’s unusual haste and his unfinished snow cone seemed peculiar, but she remained oblivious to his intentions. While strolling through downtown Amarillo, Cameron asked if they could take a picture. As they approached a large ceramic heart in a small park, he took her hand and said, “Remember when I told you I would tell you all the reasons I want to marry you when the time is right? Well, that time is now.” Nervous yet earnest, he fumbled through his planned speech and, with a heart full of love, got down on one knee, proposing with a simplicity that made her response an easy, heartfelt “Yes.” August 23, 2023, was a day of pure joy, but they are certain that April 26, 2025, will surpass it as they begin this next chapter of their lives together.
