We first met at West Chester University in the fall of 2016. Although we were both music majors and had mutual friends, somehow we were too afraid to talk to each other. After months of awkward small talk on twitter, and even more awkward avoidance at parties, Tom finally asked Hayley for coffee and cupcakes. Our first date at Dia Dolce in downtown West Chester ended up being 3 hours of nonstop talking. We were legally married on the 4-year anniversary of our first day, November 21, 2020.
Ever since we have been homeowners, our home has been our pride and joy. We were able to purchase our home in December of 2018 after months of saving money and living with Tom's parents. In December of 2019, we were going to officially be spending our first Christmas together in our own home. We decided that one of our Christmas presents to each other would be Christmas ornaments to build up our collection. On December 13, Tom came home, called me down to their basement living room, and insisted that he give me his ornament he got me. I was livid and refused because it was not yet Christmas. After begging and pleading, I decided to give in. When Tom came into the basement of our house with the ornament, he had me close my eyes. When I opened my eyes he was down on one knee and had the ring in an engraved ring box ornament. Of course, I said yes! (Apparently, Tom was planning on giving me the ring on Christmas but couldn't wait and popped the question the day he got the ring.) -Hayley
Our vow renewal and reception will take place at the Duke Art Gallery located in the Wallingford Community Arts Center. We will renew our vows to each other in one of the upstairs rooms in front of one of the mansion's immaculate fireplaces. Cocktail hour and dinner will be held downstairs in the art gallery itself.
