I met my husband thanks to a mutual friend, Elvis Tem—who’s more like family now to me. At the time, Elvis and I were both in the U.S. Army, serving in the same unit. In 2018, he started telling me about his childhood friend and confidant, Ojong (OJ), someone he had grown up with and stayed close to over the years. OJ was living in New York at that time. Elvis, being the matchmaker he didn’t know he was, thought we’d be perfect for each other. To be honest, I wasn’t looking for a relationship then and apparently, neither was OJ. But eventually, we exchanged pictures through Elvis, and I figured, why not? What’s the worst that could happen? 😅 Our first real-life encounter happened at Elvis’s wedding in 2018. I was just about to leave and went over to say my goodbyes. OJ was standing next to Elvis. We made eye contact, didn’t say much, and I gave him one of those quick “church hugs” before rushing out the door 😂. Talk about a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment! Fast forward to 2019—we crossed paths again, exchanged numbers, but didn’t talk much. Life got in the way, and we lost touch for over a year. Then in 2021, fate stepped back in. We reconnected and decided to give this thing a real shot. Our first date was unforgettable. On the way to the restaurant, we were chatting about cooking when OJ, being his bold and unfiltered self, asked, “So Thelma, is it that you don’t like to cook, or… you just don’t know how?” 😳 I looked at him like, did this man really just say that?! 😂 But we laughed, had an amazing time, and from that day on, something just clicked. I never imagined those awkward first exchanges would lead to the love we share now. What started as a few conversations has grown into something truly beautiful ❤️❤️ Here’s to a forever filled with laughter, love, and countless unforgettable memories 🥰 #T&Oj’sLovstory#
