On September 2, 2021, Teddy cut Claire in line at Purdue’s iconic Harry’s Chocolate Shop. After a few apologies, Grateful Deads (IYKYK), and a little help from mutual friends, that first night turned into quite the adventure. Teddy pulled out all the stops; he showed off his talents on the guitar, doubled down on the musical showboating by playing Claire a melody on the piano, and capped the night off with a (less than impressive) performance on the basketball court. From that night on, we kept finding reasons to spend time together. What started as casual dates quickly turned into something more meaningful, and by November, we made things official! During those early days, we discovered how much we truly had in common, especially our shared values, our love for family, our humor, and our faith. We had clicked, but we were only getting started! We spent the rest of that year at Purdue creating unforgettable memories and introducing each other to the people who mattered most in our lives. In Spring 2022, Teddy graduated and moved to Milwaukee to start his career and the beginning of our long-distance chapter. Despite its challenges, that period has a very special place in our hearts. The weekends that we did have together made all of Claire’s long drives and Teddy’s longer bus rides worth it. After graduating in Spring 2023, Claire began her Master’s program in Speech-Language Pathology at Saint Mary’s. Even with a busy schedule in Indiana, she spent weekends in Milwaukee, studying in coffee shops with Teddy by her side. In Fall 2024, Teddy moved to Madison to begin law school, bringing us one step closer to being in the same place again. In August 2025, Claire finished her Master’s program, moved to Madison with Teddy the very next day, and started her job just two days later. Finally, our long-distance chapter full of facetime dates had come to a close, and our life together began. Along our journey, we’ve made so many incredible memories, from trips to the Outer Banks, to backpacking in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, to countless trips to visit Teddy’s family in Virginia and Claire’s family in Indiana, and so much more. But one trip always stands out above the rest… Hawaii!!!! On a small beach east of Honolulu, surrounded by friends and the beauty of the islands, Teddy asked Claire to spend forever together--and of course, she said yes! And now, here we are—engaged and planning a WEDDING! We are so excited to spend this special day with you and celebrate love!!
