Lance Polvado and Lance Selgo met in person for the first time at a birthday party for a mutual friend. Around December of 2018 they decided that exploring a relationship was of real interest to them. After some persuasion and the charm and wit of Lance P., Lance S. finally let his guard down and agreed to a first date. After flying back into Dallas from Phoenix visiting family, Lance and Lance met at Coal Vines for their first magical date. After pizza, and easily flowing conversation, they made their way to Katy Trail Ice House for drinks and several hours of additional conversation, laughs and what would be a memory to cherish forever. After navigating the potential weirdness that comes from having the same first name, they realized they were meant to be. Same name ... similar look ... it was a done deal!
On January 16th, 2021, Lance P. took Lance S. to some of their favorite local spots in the Bishop Arts area of Dallas. If you know anything about the Lances, you know they love a good old fashioned. Throughout their relationship, they frequented a restaurant/bar called The Local Oak in Bishop Arts to satisfy their old fashioned cravings. They are such loyal customers, that they knew the entire wait staff and even the owner. So, it was only fitting that when Lance P. decided to surprise propose, it would be held in the same spot they enjoyed all those old fashioneds and shared many hours of conversation. After settling in at The Local Oak, and a few drinks to calm Lance P’s nerves, he got down on one knee and proposed. After Lance S. said yes and they called family to share the exciting news, a group of their closest friends joined them to celebrate the momentous occasion, an engagement, into a life of happiness and love.
