In true Millennial fashion, we met through Bumble. It was not love at first swipe. Intern swipes for Boy, Girl swipes because his profile said "I'm not crazy, my Mom got me tested", which she thought was very funny.
Ceviche Taqueria is the location of this fateful day. I had to move the date an hour back, because I got caught in traffic. I almost cancelled, because I made plans with friends for that evening. I was already with Jovy the whole day and since I obviously can't take her to the date with me, I just dropped her off Starbucks. I made sure to tell Jovy that if the date goes south, she'd have to call me with an emergency. I didn't realized that I was about to meet the man of my dreams. I saw him on his phone and I said "Hi!" with a cheery smile and he just rolled his eyes put his phone in his pocket and gave me a side hug. We got to talking and I excused myself to go to the bathroom. I called Jovy, not because I want her to fake an emergency, but to tell her that the date is going well. So well that I asked for a second date myself.
Although the mid-August sun was beginning to set, the Georgia heat was still sweltering. It wasn't cowboy boots weather, but for some reason I had decided to wear them anyways and now I was starting to sweat. I had been sitting outside the restaurant in downtown Alpharetta for some time as I had arrived early eager to meet the young lady whose name was akin to mine. Seeking solace form the heat, I decided to stroll around the small downtown and look for a cooler place to wait. I found a small gazebo and decided to rest on one the benches there. As I sat down, i felt my phone buzz. She was going to be late. Really late. I started to wonder if she was about to bail on me and the longer I sat there the more I believed it (little did I know she was considering it). Sensing i was about to be stood up, I decided to leave. God, however, had other plans for as i got up to go the heavens opened up as a storm appeared seemingly out of no where. I was stuck. Finally it cleared, and I felt my phone buzz again. She was here. Little did I know I was about to meet the girl of my dreams.
She probably knew it was coming, but she wasn't expecting it to be that morning. Besides, it was early and he hadn't even had any coffee yet. Add in the fact it was apple season and they were headed to the packing house to help his parents pack apples and it's easy to see why her guard was down. He told her before they could go to the packing house that they needed to pick up his dad's coffee cup which he had left on the hill at the other farm. They loaded up in the Polaris and drove through the fog to the top of the hill overlooking the apple orchard. It was then that he got on one knee and asked her to marry him. At first she said no, then squealed, and then tackled him. He wasn't sure she even saw the black diamond she had asked for until he put it on her finger. She seemed so surprised he listened. She then hugged him again as the rain once more began to fall on that small Appalachian farm.
