How We Met

01.20.13

Our love story is like most others; it began at a leadership conference in the Pennsylvania wilderness. Casey had just transferred to Towson and I was finishing up the first semester of my Sophomore year there. I had learned about the program, LeaderShape, through an on-campus mentor of mine, Dr. Deb Moriarty. Casey knew about the program through a mentor of hers, her mom, Deb Moriarty Giovanazzi! At the first event of the program, this tall, blonde girl in leggings walked across the room, and said she played Volleyball. I was immediately interested. I then said I was founding a fraternity, and she was immediately not interested. We were placed in the same cluster at the conference and I knew in short order that she was special. That night, I told my friend Gayon that I was going to marry that Casey Gio. Now, nearly 8 years later, that reality is here, and I could not be happier to have something in common with Babe Ruth: we both called our shot.

The Proposal

10.11.19

In a beautiful corner looking out on the waterfront of Baltimore's Inner Harbor, Kevin proposed to me. This was a place we had shared so many special moments and date nights together. We began the night at a happy hour together at one of our favorite restaurants. Kevin then lead me to "dinner" where we would be celebrating Kevin's success at work - or so I thought. It was a clear and cool October night, so Kevin lead me down to the waterfront saying he wanted to look at the view of the city skyline before dinner. Albeit completely clueless up until this moment, I slowly began to realize what was transpiring. In shock, I stopped walking and looked to Kevin who smiled and said, "Are you ready?" He then got down on one knee as 30 of our friends and family emerged from all around. I said "YES!!!" Although it took me the entire night to catch my breath, it was a the most magical moment in time & a wonderful evening that represents the start of a whole new journey - our path to marriage!
