Like so many of their friends, Tyler and Taylor originally met through a dating app in 2017. Their first date was at a local Mexican food restaurant and then they spent the rest of the evening walking around a record shop, laughing about old songs they used to listen to and the assortment of odd trinkets scattered around the store. As they spent more time together, there was an obvious attraction, but fate doesn't immediately work in one's favor. They ended up going their separate ways for several years, occasionally running into each other around town. In September of 2020, social media brought them together once more. Taylor had posted a picture of something, which Tyler responded to. They started a conversation, and that eventually led to plans to meet up for dinner, but just as friends (so they thought). From that night on, they continued seeing each other and officially started dating in January 2021. They spent most of their early months enjoying the beautiful Arizona weather by hiking or going on long walks. The next few years became the building blocks of Tyler and Taylor’s relationship. Through the loss of Tyler’s mom, to moving in with one another, the couple learned how to support each other through the hard times just as much as through the good times. By December 2023, Tyler was ready to pop the question! Of course, Taylor had no idea of his plans and didn't mind telling anyone how ready she was for an engagement. Tyler played it cool until the time was just right. Fast forward to a gloomy Saturday in January 2024. The plan was for Tyler, Taylor, and her sister to go on a hike at South Mountain. To Taylor, it was just another Saturday, as she busily tried to prepare for the week. She almost considered not going on the hike! Little did she know that it was about to be one of the best days of her life. Once they reached the peak of their hike, Taylor's sister offered to take a picture of the couple with the beautiful backdrop of the east valley behind them. To Taylor's surprise, Tyler got down on one knee and presented a beautiful diamond ring, the center stone having belonged to his mom. From below, a hiker loudly shouted, "SAY YES!" There was no other answer she would have given. Their love story, though several years already in the making, is really only just beginning.
