Croatia is located along the Adriatic Sea, just east of Italy and north of Greece. Croatia is a melting pot of Southern European and Slavic cultures. The views, food and wine are aligned with its neighbors to the west, Italy, but the language and culture is heavily rooted in Eastern Europe. As a part of former Yugoslavia, Croatia covers the majority of the Balkan Peninsula coastline, consisting of many mountains and more than 1,000 islands.
September will still be relatively warm, with low humidity. Expect temperatures around 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 65 degrees in the evening. The sea temperature will also be warm (usually around 80 degrees). The sun is very strong in this region- sunscreen and sun protection is recommended. Chance of storms or rain is low but always possible along the coast. The wedding reception will be moved inside in case of inclement weather.
We ask that our guests stay at the Wedding Hotel for the night of the event (September 7th) as we have privatized the entire location. Only our guests will be allowed to stay at the hotel and have access to the pool, beach club, spa and additional amenities. While you can use the main website to view photos of the rooms, the prices online will not be applicable as we have special discounted rates via direct booking with the hotel Manager. Under the travel tab, you'll see the room names and rates. Please select the room you'd like and follow instructions on emailing Kristina directly to reserve. These special rates will be applicable to your entire stay so please feel free to utilize the hotel for your entire trip if that's an option. The bride and Groom will be at the hotel all weekend and would love your company.

Yes- the hotel, restaurants, and many locals will be able to speak or find someone who can speak to you. Croatians love Americans and are usually very excited to have us visit their country. Croatia just switched to the Euro. We recommend not exchanging your cash at the airport to avoid higher conversion fees- there will be many local spots by the hotel that you can utilize instead. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere with the exception of American Express which is not able to be used in Croatia. If you plan to go to a local spot, outside of the metropolitan areas- we recommend having Euros on hand just in case.
Welcome Party: Beach Cocktail Attire- This event will be outside at a beach club in the evening. Our recommendation would be sundresses and short-sleeved button downs with shorts. Please feel free to bring a bathing suit if you're up for a night swim in the sea following the event. Wedding Day: Black Tie. As a specific request from our groom, we ask that all guests wear black or neutral tones (beige/gold). Tux's are appropriate but a black suit can be worn alternatively. Ladies, a formal dress or gown in black or neutral is requested. It's Europe- be fun, be fashionable, take risks! The church ceremony will be followed by a brief, traditional street parade procession on cobblestone. Please keep this in mind for those wearing heels.
You will need a valid passport. We recommend double checking that your passport is current and not set to expire within 6 months after the trip. If you are applying for your first passport or looking to renew, please allow ample time as the government does foresee some delays early in 2024. Originally, the US government was anticipating requiring a "travel visa" for all European travel starting January 2024 but this has been delayed until 2025 and will not be needed for the wedding.
