Matthew and Hannah met just a couple of weeks before Hannah moved to Texas for nursing school, at our church’s young adults' Bible study. Aside from being in the same discussion group, we didn’t have any real interactions at first. Hannah's first week at TCU, her new roommates had asked if she was dating anyone, and she had said no but mentioned a new guy who joined her church right before coming to Texas, and that there's no way it could go anywhere since she lived in Fort Worth now! A few months later, one of Hannah’s childhood friends became close with Matthew and thought it would be a great idea to set us up. After a few funny phone calls and texts, Hannah came home for winter break and to Matthew’s advantage, didn’t have a car. Meaning she conveniently needed a ride to church! They bonded over their shared love of the band Harbour and started texting in December 2022—and haven’t stopped since! Hannah returned to Texas for the spring semester, and they spent that time building a strong friendship and getting to know each other better. After a summer filled with fun dates and time together, Hannah left for school again. Matthew was still a bit hesitant about long-distance, but promised he’d visit sometime during the semester. One day in September, Hannah opened the door expecting an Amazon package—but found Matthew standing there instead! They spent the entire weekend together doing all the things from TCU football, Texas BBQ, meeting ALL of Hannah's friends, and going to Hannah's new church. After the trip, Hannah, so excited but still hesitant about where this was going, opened her mailbox to a letter from Matthew officially asking her to be his girlfriend. From then on, it was a season full of FaceTime calls, plane rides, and countdowns until the next visit. Hannah graduated from TCU in December and moved back home to Pleasanton! After a few more months of dating in person, she was out to dinner with a friend and her sister when her parents called, asking to be picked up from her uncle’s house because they’d “lost their car keys on the golf course.” Still shockingly unaware, Hannah drove over to help. After being dropped off on a hill and aimlessly looking for the keys, she turned around and saw Matthew standing there. We are so excited to share this next chapter with you!
