The Coupe is definitely one of our weekend go-tos for a casual brunch. They tend to be pretty packed, but there's usually a spot for 2 at the bar. "The Samya and Andrew Special:" coffee + wings + brussle sprouts + a mini kale caesar salad.
Looking for a place to picnic or just hang out in the sun? Meridian Hill / Malcolm X Park is a great go-to. Don’t forget your picnic blanket and some lawn games!
Easily the best brunch in the city (and you know we love brunch...) and excellent for dinner as well. Be sure to make a reservation in advance! If you’re there for brunch, grab a bottle of the house champagne + fresh OJ for mimosas and try any version of their Eggs Benedict.
Who doesn’t love a good dive bar? Downstairs there are boardgames and the upstairs has a roof deck. If you’re feeling adventurous, be sure to order a “Dealers Choice” from the bartender, or ask for a shot of Chacho.
We know D.C. might not be known for it’s tacos, but Taqueria Habanero is excellent. It’s right next door to Red Derby and Lyman’s Tavern if you want to do a full “Andrew and Samya” style night out.
Estadio is one of our favorite date-night restaurants. It can be tough to get a reservation, but if you love Spanish tapas, it’s well worth the wait. Be sure to try the Shishito Peppers, Hangar Steak, and a cheese plate!
If you love love sushi, sake, or Japanese small plates, this is the place for you. This is very much a special date-night type place, but incredibly delicious. They don't take reservations and it's very cozy inside, so we'd recommend this spot for a party of 4 or less.
Eastern Market is a wonderful place to shop, eat, and get to know a part of Capitol Hill. It's open everyday, but on the weekends the outdoor vendors are out as well. Need a snack? Grab a freshly made mini donut or a pickle from the outdoor food stands!
Rockcreek Park is a gem within the city. If you feel like hiking for the day without leaving the city, head to the nature center, grab a trail map, and let the adventure begin! You’ll feel like you left the city when you’re really just in the middle of it.
The Smithsonian’s are all free museums down on the National Mall. On a nice weekend, they’re definitely a tourist hot spot, but with free entry, it’s easy to come and go as you please. Note: If you’re hoping to go to the African American museum, you will need to book a free time-slot well in advance. The museum is amazing and thus very popular: https://nmaahc.si.edu/
