Rachel had a feeling a proposal might happen on vacation, but she didn’t want to get her hopes up. She figured if it did, she’d definitely be able to tell because Kevin would be nervous. (Spoiler: she had no clue.) The morning it happened, Kevin was in a rush to get them out of their Airbnb and onto the road. Rachel thought he was just eager to start their day, but it soon became clear he was on a mission — avoiding the crowds of people who seemed to pop up everywhere they stopped. Kevin had even mapped out a scenic overlook in Olympic National Park where he planned to set up his phone for pictures. (How sweet is that?) Rachel, however, was determined to balance her own phone on a tree to capture the view… which took much longer than expected. Before she knew it, an overly enthusiastic hiker stomped down to the outlook and threw off Kevin’s plans. Not giving up, Kevin suggested they continue up Hurricane Ridge Road, where he found another overlook — quieter this time. Without much preamble, he turned to Rachel and blurted out: “Will you marry me?” Rachel was shocked. So shocked that she asked (more than once): “What? Are you sure?” Of course, Kevin was sure — and after a kiss and some tears, Rachel said yes. Right after, a young man wandered over, congratulated them, and revealed his smart glasses had been recording the whole thing. He even took Kevin’s email to share the footage… but the mystery videographer was never heard from again. Luckily, Rachel and Kevin still have their own funny video from earlier at the first overlook — mostly of Rachel trying to direct Kevin on how he should be setting up his phone. It may not have gone exactly according to plan, but it was perfectly them.
