Why 4th of July?

Answer

The Ryan family has a tradition dating back several generations of marrying on the 4th of July. Bailey and Tommy follow Bailey's parents who married in 1993, her grandparents who married in 1964 her great-great grandparents who married in 1914.

What to wear?

Answer

It's going to be hot! Therefore, we are prioritizing comfort over formality. We are asking folks to wear elevated beach attire. Gentlemen : Suits are welcome, but a short-sleeved button-up will suffice. No polos or t-shirts. Ladies : Semiformal dresses are recommended. Long or short is up to you! The venue is grass and gravel so please plan to wear a wedge, block heel or sandal. Please avoid casual sundresses, the color white, jeans or shorts. Are kids welcome?

Answer

Children are more than welcome to attend however, we do recommend finding childcare if possible. We understand most folks are traveling and want to enjoy the holiday as a family so for children attending, please keep a close eye on your little one. The venue is not fully fenced and is near a busy main road. Additionally, we cannot guarantee the reception will remain PG13 / kid-friendly.

What are the food options?

Answer

In celebration of the holiday, we are serving gourmet sliders and hot dogs. Additional bites include grilled chicken, grilled veggies, salad and various hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour.

Will there be fireworks?

Answer

Unfortunately, the venue is located in a residential neighborhood so fireworks are not permitted; however we will be in close proximity to Sandbridge, where fireworks will be visible.

Jet Noise

Answer

For folks not familiar with Virginia Beach, it is the home of Oceana Naval Air Station. Several times a day (or hour), the jets pass over different areas of Virginia Beach. Do not be alarmed, we are not going to war; they just fly very low and very loud.
