It started with Spanish homework and ended with a wedding.

The story of how Kevin and Kendall met.

Kendall was a Spanish Major doing an immersion program, Kevin was a Spanish Minor doing a faculty-led study abroad program. Fate brought them both to Oviedo, Asturias, Spain that summer. On June 1st, 2018, the faculty of La Casa de Las Lenguas (The Language House) arranged a dinner for all the foreign students. It was at a traditional-style Asturian restaurant with cider and lots of folk dancing. The pairs story doesn't begin there, but upon recounting the night they realized they were both on stage dancing at the same time. Later that night, the students went out a bar. Kendall, fully embracing "immersion" did not talk to any of the others students in English. When a young man sat down next to her and started talking to her in English she doubled down on her language practice, frustrating and confusing the young man. Several back and forth's later, a taller young man came and sat down next to them and began translating what she was saying to his friend. The guy who translated for his friend was Kevin. The two exchanged WhatsApp numbers and began texting in Spanish. They decided to meet up one night to practice speaking and do homework together. The conversation eventually drifted away from school and Kevin said "Tengo 12,000 fotos de gatos y perros en mi teléfono" (I have 12,000 photos of cats and dogs on my phone). Kendall’s first English words to Kevin were, “Wait, what? Can I see?” After that, the two stayed out until 4AM wandering the city and talking for hours. Kendall later reflected, “I had never met someone who was so easy to talk to.” This was the beginning of their bond, that sadly coincided with only 3 days left in Kevin's program. On Kevin's last night in Spain, the two went to a beach party with Kevin's classmates at a neighboring beach town called Gijon. They said "This isn't Adiós, this is Hasta Luego" (This isn't GoodBye, this is See you Later). The two became inseparable and kept in touch daily via WhatsApp, even after Kendall went back to New York and Kevin went back to Utah. They maintained a strong friendship and decided to meet up together in New York at the end of 2018. He met Kendall's family and they went to New York City for the New Years Eve's Ball Drop in Time Square. On that eventful day, after standing in the freezing rain for 11 hours, they decided it would be way better to get a hot pizza and watch the ball drop on TV from the hotel room. On Kevin’s last night in New York, Kendall confessed, “I think I’m like in love with you.” Oblivious to her, but to no one else, he felt the same way. So they did what every zillenial couple does, they opened up facebook and updated their status' to "In a relationship". Kevin traveled to New York for Kelsey and Alex's wedding June 1st, 2019. The two went back to study in Spain in Fall 2019, this time in Sevilla. Kendall surprised Kevin with a visit to Utah in March 2020, then the world shut down and she quarantined in Utah with him and his family until August 2020. After they both virtually graduated in May 2020, Kevin got a job with the University of Utah. In January 2021, Kendall officially moved to Utah and the two got an apartment together. In November 2023, the pair bought a town home together. In August 2024, Kevin proposed in Ocean City, New Jersey. They cannot wait to see you at their wedding on October 18th, 2025.
