We were fortunate to attend Georgia College and State University - a cozy campus in southeast Georgia. In 2014, as Matt prepared for graduation, our connection grew. The perfect timing, right? We constantly made each other laugh and knew there was something special here very early on. After a game day kiss in Athens, a few late night shifts worked together, and a very memorable first date, we were hooked. Post-college years brought us closer than ever. Long distance wasn't easy, but Leo was our consolation prize. Year 3 we moved into a small one-bedroom in Sandy Springs and it felt like home. Now going on 7 years, we could not be happier with the life we are building and can't wait to celebrate our wedding day with all of our closest friends and family!
What started as a birthday getaway turned into the most incredible day of our lives. I set my sights on a birthday trip at the end of April to celebrate turning 26. What initially started as a girls trip transformed into the best weekend getaway including 5 of our closest friends. Four days exploring the beautiful state of Arizona. We landed at the Phoenix airport late on Thursday night and crashed in Scottsdale, preparing for the long road trip north to Page, Arizona the next morning. After one of the most incredible brunches of my life at The Henry, we all piled into our modest rental car and got settled for the drive north. Here's where it gets good. . . About an hour out from Page, the excitement was tangible. From my perspective, we were going to check into the Airbnb and grab dinner before stargazing under the desert sky (a dream right?!). Spoiler alert: it was 1000000x better. We arrived to the Airbnb, checked in, and all of a sudden were in a rush to drop our bags and get going. Where? I didn't know. But as we changed and rushed out the door, I noticed everyone was dressed similar in comfortable clothes. We rush out the door and drove a few miles. After a million guesses, I see two ATVs waiting for us. Guided by Mark, our trusted Vermillion Cliffs Tour Guide, we ripped full speed through some of the coolest trails of the northern Arizona/Utah area. Approaching the last lookout spot, our tour guide, Mark, yelled out "this one is going to the be the best for photos" - making us all eager to take in the view. And he was right, it was breathtaking and perfectly timed with the Arizona sunset. So beautiful that Matt got his drone up in the air and set it to autopilot capture the most incredible moment. As we took a couple pictures, Matt turned to face me, got down on a knee, and I said the easiest yes. What followed were tears, laughs, and the most incredible night spent by a beach bonfire under the stars. 4.30.21 I The Proposal
