Polterabend

Polterabend is a German wedding custom in which the guests break porcelain to chase away evil spirits and bring luck to the couple's marriage. The saying goes ‘Scherben bringen Glück’ – shards bring luck.
The word itself comes from the verb 'polten' – to make a lot of noise and 'Abend' – evening. That noise comes in the form of smashing porcelain and of course the raucous partying that accompanies the evening.
We'll open up the poltering after our ceremony. You're welcome to grab a mug and smash it on the ground in the dedicated area.
We're providing a porcelain dish for each of you and invite you to bring additional mugs & plates (porcelain) for some extra luck.
