Although we didn’t get the chance to ski during our visit to Banff due to all the planning, we highly encourage all guests to check out the amazing slopes nearby. Banff Sunshine Village is just a 20-minute drive from the Fairmont, and a shuttle is included with your lift ticket for easy transport. This mountain has been ranked #5 in North America by Peak Rankings!
The Banff Gondola offers breathtaking views of all of Banff, and at the top, you’ll find a bar and a fine dining restaurant where you can book a prix-fixe meal. We recommend taking the ride up and enjoying a cocktail with the stunning scenery. Just make sure to dress warmly—the gondola isn’t heated!
Vermilion Lakes is an amazing spot to watch the sunrise (don’t worry, the sunrise is just before 8 AM in February). We did this on our trip and absolutely loved it—stunning views and a peaceful start to the day!
Lake Louise is absolutely stunning in winter and just a 45-minute drive from the Banff Springs Hotel. When we visited, we spent the morning there, ice skating on the lake and enjoying lunch at the Fairmont Château Lake Louise, where the Lakeview Lounge offers incredible views.
Lake Louise Ski Resort is a bit further than Sunshine Village and doesn’t have a shuttle, but it's still only a 45-minute drive if you want to check it out. The snow is fantastic, and from what we've heard, it's definitely worth the drive if you have a bit more time!
Explore Banff Avenue and enjoy its local shops, bars, and restaurants—perfect for classic mountain town winter wonderland vibes!
