We’re getting married!

We met our freshman year at Kansas State University in Chemistry Lab. Jake and Sam were lab partners when Jake accidentally spilled acid on himself—burning a hole straight through his shirt and causing quite the scene. It definitely caught Sam’s attention. Within just a few days, we realized we were both Civil Engineering majors, and before we knew it, we somehow ended up sharing nearly every class for the rest of college. Jake also happened to go to high school with a girl who quickly became one of Sam’s closest friends, and the three of us soon formed our own little study group. When she later changed majors, it was just Jake and Sam—studying together, walking to class together, and sitting side by side in almost every lecture throughout college. By senior year, what began as an easy friendship slowly turned into something more. Shortly after graduating, we made it official. Just a week later, Sam told Jake she would be moving to Austin to pursue her master’s degree at UT. What followed was a year and a half of long-distance, filled with monthly visits, lots of travel, and making the most of every moment together. When we were together, we explored Austin’s food and drink scene and talked about warehouses and traffic. After graduating, Sam returned to Kansas City, and it didn’t take long for us to realize we were ready for the next chapter together. A year and a half later, Jake asked—and Sam said yes.
