Fall 2015. PEN 1136 – Openwater Scuba Diving (yes, this is a real, accredited class offered at the University of Florida). During Jamie’s original class registration, only the 5am class time was available. If you know Jamie, this was NOT going to fly on a weekly basis, so when a 9am slot became available during drop/add week he quickly switched to this more reasonable time. As luck would have it, this was the same section that Briana was already signed up for, and the wheels of love were in motion! Every Tuesday after the pool session, as Briana changed into dry clothes to go to her next class, Jamie would very slowly pack his gear next to the pool so he could "accidentally run into her" and walk across campus together. Their first "date" was driving to an off-campus dive session at a local spring, where Briana proceeded to miss 3 turns in a row (driving is not her strong suit) and then later at Chick-Fil-A spent the entire lunch with honey mustard on her forehead. Somehow, after all of that, Jamie still fell madly in love with her! After a year of sorority and fraternity date functions, 2 years of long distance between Atlanta and St. Pete, and 5 years living in the Tampa Bay area, it only took a meticulously planned proposal in Budapest for them to finally be betrothed. They are both so excited to say “I Do” in front of all their family and friends and spend the rest of their lives together – forehead honey mustard and all.
