Deirdre and Jonathan’s story began in February 2018 at NJIT, at a “highlighter party” hosted by his fraternity. The rules were simple: wear white and let people draw on you with highlighters. Jonathan was working the party when campus security asked him to find a girl in a red shirt that got into some trouble—and there was Deirdre, a clueless freshman in a bright red top. (Let the record show, she was not the one they were looking for). Jonathan politely asked her to leave, but with a bit of charm, Deirdre talked her way into staying. That brief moment was the beginning—but not yet their beginning. Months later, they crossed paths again at another party. Deirdre recognized him as the guy who tried to kick her out, but instead of revenge, the night turned into nonstop conversation. From then on, they were inseparable. They made it “official” on February 5, 2019—and on June 12, 2026, they are making it forever.
