Europe Travel Tips

The Euro is the currency of Italy and most European countries. The majority of banks no longer require you to inform them when you leave the country, but we suggest confirming just in case. Some businesses and most cab drivers prefer cash over card so we suggest pulling out Euros at your bank before traveling or at an ATM once you arrive in Europe (may have additional fees). Pickpocketing is real in Europe! Cross-body bags are suggested and always keep your bag in front of you, especially in congested areas. Do not hang your bag on the back of your chair. Do not keep a lot of cash on you at once. Do not leave your phone or sunglasses on the restaurant table while you are eating. The electric voltage is different in Europe so we do not suggest bringing your powerful beauty tools (Dyson Airwrap, blow dryers, electric shavers for the men, etc.) as you may ruin them if you attempt to use them. Most curling irons and straighteners work with an adapter (see packing list below) and most hotels will provide a blow dryer. Wear comfortable shoes when experiencing the city! There is nothing like walking around Rome, especially because everything is fairly close together. You will walk miles without realizing and there are many cobblestone streets so comfortable shoes are a must. If you have had enough walking, you can take a cab (cash payment preferred) or even call an Uber! Look into your health insurance to see if you have travel insurance! It is easy and cheap to get from place to place in Europe! We strongly suggest traveling to other Italian cities or countries before or after the wedding. Train tickets are extremely affordable if you are traveling nearby. Otherwise, we suggest booking flights ahead of time! If you do decide to travel around Europe, pack light! Most European cities are old and have A LOT of stairs. It is much easier to get around with a carry-on versus a large checked bag.
