Jess' Version: I first met Dan on May 6, 2017. We were both attending a music festival with our best friend (and matchmaker) Caitlyn. It was a beautiful day, the music was great, the vibes were amazing, and Dan looked super cute. The only issue is that we didn't speak a single word to each other the entire time. I snapped some secret pics of him, because I really thought he was that cute LOL, and then we both went our separate ways. Two months later, I decided to reach out to him. At the time, he was in Canada, and I was in Italy. Despite the time change and both of us being exhausted due to travel, we both found the time to text each other nonstop (with some FaceTime calls here and there). When we both arrived back in the US, I invited him to visit me at FSU. We spent a whole day canoeing and talking about our lives; it is still one of the best and most memorable days I've ever had. We truly learned so much about each other on this day, and how much we both have in common. After that amazing day, our relationship began to really grow and form into something wonderful. We were long distance (about a 5 hour drive) for over a year, and during this time, we somehow managed to raise a puppy together (don't ask how we did it because looking back I honestly don't even know). Once I graduated college, I moved down to Tampa so that Dan and I could finally be closer and live together, and the rest is history! An adventure filled cross country move to our forever home in Oregon; two dogs, three cats, three frogs; working hard to pursue our dream careers; getting engaged on a glacier in Alaska; and now eloping in one of the most breathtaking locations in Italy! It all seems like a beautiful dream, and I'm so glad that I never have to wake up from it. Dans Version: It all started at a music festival that I spontaneously decided to tag along to. I was just going for the vibes and listening to some good music. And that is most certainly what I did and just about all I did. I maybe said 3 words to Jess because I was under the impression that she was talking to another guy that was in the group we were with (she wasn't, turns out they were just friends). After the festival, we all went our separate ways and I assumed that would be the last time I would talk to Jess. Fast forward a few months and I am on a roadtrip to Canada with my family when I get a Snapchat. I opened it and to my surprise, it was the girl from the music festival months prior. Yes, she made the first move...chivalry isn't dead, folks. After many texts, snapchats, and FaceTimes, she invited me to visit her up at FSU. I drove the long drive from Tampa excited to actually get to spend time with her. While there, we rented a canoe and sat on a lake for hours just talking to each other until it began to get dark. I wish the sun never started to set. On the paddle back to shore, I turned around and once again, she made the first move. That is where we had our first kiss. Fast forward another period of time, now she has finished college, moved down to Tampa with me and we got our first apartment together. I guess each-others company was not enough for us, because that is when we started adopting (what seems like) every pet we saw. She already had a cat in college, but then came our Husky, and then a fat cat. After living in Florida most of my life, we decided that we needed a change in scenery. And boy was it a big change. We made the roadtrip across the country to Portland, OR where we currently reside. After a few takes, we finally found jobs that will eventually turn to careers. We love every day out here, whether it be rainy or the occasional sunny day, because we get to spend it together. I am lucky to share all of the same interests and discover new places with the girl I love. She makes everyday adventurous for me and I cannot wait to marry her.
