Raising our respective families in Brentwood, our paths have briefly crossed here and there for 20 years at sports games, school, playdates and kids’ birthday parties. The kids have all crossed paths too. Devin and Carlos were on the same pony league baseball team and Keoni was one of the coaches. Fast forward a couple years, and Caroline and Hunter were in the same 3rd grade class where Ann was room mom and art docent. Jump ahead a few more years, and Corinne and Sydnee were in the same second grade class and, along with Lauren, became fast friends. The three girls have had too many playdates, sleepovers and weekend trips together over the last 8 years to count, and began calling each other sisters long before we began dating. May 2018, Keoni came to pick the girls up from Corinne’s birthday sleepover. We hadn’t crossed paths in over a year. We caught up over pizza and a few beers that day while the girls played, and the rest is history!
Keoni managed the best birthday surprise in the midst of a pandemic. Outdoor dining had just reopened in Contra Costa County. He coordinated an outdoor dinner for our large family on the back patio of a local restaurant. He then decided spur of the moment that “today is the day”, went to a local jeweler, picked out the most perfect ring, guessed the size and had it ready that same day before dinner. To say I was surprised is an understatement ~ he planned it and pulled it off with no one knowing, surprising us all. Best birthday ever!
We were able to proceed with our wedding on October 10, 2021 in our hometown of Brentwood, CA at Serendipity Cellars, owned by friends of our family, Michele and Bryan Lucay. It was planned in a matter of weeks with amazing vendors (most also family friends), and it could not have been more perfect.
