Zane and I first met in 2012 when we were just 15 years old. We each attended rivalry schools. He went to South Bend and I went to Willapa Valley. We were set up by mutual friends at a basketball game against each other. Anyone who knows us knows that we like to take our sweet time (haha) and that started from day one. We decided to start out as friends, go on some dates, and see where life took us. One of our first dates was a snow date sledding up in the woods where 7 years later he would ask me to marry him. In December 2019, Zane asked me to marry him. He took me to my favorite spot up in the woods (near our sledding date) where you can see all of Willapa Bay, along with rolling hills for miles and miles. As we were enjoying the view and letting our puppy, Ember, run around, he asked me what this spot was named (he has all kinds of names for different spots in the woods). I stated that he never told me a name for that spot. Suddenly he got down on one knee, said he has a new name for the spot, and asked the big question. Of course I said yes! We named the spot “Engagement Hill".
