our story

Tyler and Lina’s story began on a December night in 2020 at a Murray Hill apartment. They were “set up” by their mutual friend Amanda. Amanda, who was Lina’s roommate and one of Tyler’s childhood best friends, knew the two would be perfect for each other and decided to throw a party so they could meet. The two were excited - Lina was steadfast on keeping it a “blind date” and not looking at photos of him before, while Tyler did his research and knew what he was getting into. The only issue was that when Tyler arrived to the party, he introduced himself as “Jerry” (his childhood nickname), leaving Lina torn between waiting on the guy she was supposed to meet or falling for the guy that she made a connection with. After Amanda helps Lina realize “TYLER IS JERRY,” the two have been inseparable ever since. With Lina living in Manhattan and Tyler in Astoria, they quickly found out that the only connection stronger than theirs was the East River Ferry route that connected them seamlessly. The ferry would become a part of their relationship forever as they planned dates and trips all over the city. Then, one day after countless weekends of living out of backpacks at each other’s places, it came time to move in together. With Lina being reluctant to move from Manhattan, and Tyler being stubborn about not wanting to leave Queens since “real New Yorkers live in Queens”, they had to come to an agreement. And funny enough, that agreement led them to another East River Ferry Stop, Long Island City, Queens. “The Lick” - one 7 train stop away from Manhattan, a quick 7 ride away from Citi Field, 40 minutes to White Plains where Lina grew up, and 50 minutes to Massapequa where Tyler grew up (or two hours if you ask Lina). It was the perfect middle ground between their two worlds to continue to grow their love. On October 7, 2023 their greatest adventure began when Tyler asked Lina to marry him. Tyler spent weeks planning, choosing a beautiful garden in the West Village to pop the question, and devising the perfect decoy story (shoutout to EM J for sharing her birthday with us). However, in true Lina & Tyler fashion, rain was in the forecast leaving Tyler to have to quickly change locations and purchase the now infamous clear umbrella. On the morning of, they suspiciously headed to Pier 45 and with a quick 30 minute gap in the rain, Tyler sprung to action and got down on one knee. Lina said yes, and they were swarmed with love by family and friends as the party ensued. Quite frankly, the party hasn’t stopped since and we look forward to continuing on June 13th 2025 and for the rest of our lives!
