Our Story

(Groom's Perspective)

Once upon a time, Dory and I met at Centre College in the theater department in spring of 2018. It all started when I asked Dory to audition for a show I was directing in the upcoming fall. She agreed to audition the next day because I was so polite, devilishly handsome, and understanding considering Dory had never acted before. At least two of those are true. I cast Dory in "The Odd Couple: The Female Version". The next semester, throughout and after the production, we became good, better, and eventually best friends. We began dating in the spring of 2019 when Dory was abroad in London, which was only mildly difficult. However love prevailed and now you're joining us in celebrating our marriage!

The Proposal

(Bride's Perspective)

I had the week off because it was my work's fall break so Jonathan asked off as well to spend time with me. That Thursday, October 8, Jonathan had planned a surprise date for us. He said there were multiple parts to the day with one big event in the middle. We first stopped at Chick-fil-a for lunch and then headed over to Lucky Ladd's Farm for a date filled with corn mazes, baby farm animals, and pumpkin picking. He told me this was the big event of the day. When we arrived at home, he asked me to wait in the car. He finally came back and told me I could come inside. I walked in and saw roses and candles on the table as well as sticky notes on the wall spelling out the word "love" with a single rose petal on the top of each letter. I walked over and read each sticky note. He then told me there was more and sat me in front of the TV. Jonathan had put together an 8 minute slideshow of pictures and videos of our relationship. The last song began to play, and it was "our song". I was beginning to get emotional before I read on the screen, "There's one more thing. Go check under the rose petals." I walked over and began taking them off as they spelled out "Will you marry me?" on each one. I turned around and found Jonathan on one knee asking me to continue this journey of ours forever. It was the easiest and best "yes" of my life.
