Cody and Rhonda met through mutual friends at a bar named Silver Dollar in downtown Portland circa 2013. As a buzzed Rhonda enjoyed herself in a room full of bros and broads, in walked Cody and immediately she was drawn to him like a moth to a light. After analyzing a way to approach him, she realized her girlfriend was talking to him and his group of friends; seeing her opportunity, she stumbled over to introduce herself. The physical attraction was immediate, but his smile and his voice wooed Rhonda over. Thinking fast, Rhonda like a frat bro, chugged a beer in front of him thinking it would be cute and make her seem more attractive. To her surprise, Cody then explained how he was sober and has never tasted alcohol in his life… But this did not stop a now drunk Rhonda from pursuing him. Aside from Cody being sober and Rhonda being intoxicated, he was also very drawn to Rhonda. As she left to mingle with others he whispered to his friend, “please come back”. Rhonda ended up leaving the bar so Cody followed in hopes to keep pursuing Rhonda. Once he caught up with her and her friends, they exchanged phone numbers and made sure to keep going to the same bars so they could “accidentally” run into each other all night. After understanding Cody was sober and staying that way, Rhonda decided to stop drinking for the night so she could connect with Cody. Once she did, Cody asked awkwardly, “Since you don’t have beer goggles anymore do you still think I’m attractive?” (Obviously) Cody was such a gentleman to Rhonda and her friends all night and once the night came to a close, he walked her to his car, opened her car door and took Rhonda home safely. The connection was amazing as they spent all night talking about their lives, goals, aspirations, family, and what would life be like in 10 years. Unfortunately, Rhonda was leaving early the next day for Seattle but she told him if he texted her by 9 am that she would stay to go on a date with him. From his comfy bed with sleepy eyes the next morning at 8:50 am, Cody texted her, “Good morning, beautiful! Can we go on our date today?” And the rest is history. So here we are, 10 years later. Rhonda and Cody are getting married and their lives have only begun. 🤍
