Our StoryOur Story

Mikey was a friend of my sister and coincidentally a lot of my friends for years before we had ever even crossed paths. There was an event in Ann Arbor we went to as a group. As the crowd was crossing the street we got a bit separated, I got to the other side and saw he was waiting for me. I immediately hugged him and thanked him and he says that was when he knew, “the rest was history.” After that, if there was a reason to hangout with him I found it. Including my dad not wanting my sister and I driving to Georgia alone as 2 girls, I asked him to come and he held my hand almost the entire drive while he was in the passenger seat and I was in the back, that’s when I knew and the rest of that trip, just confirmed it. When he asked me to be his girlfriend, he left a heart-shaped box of chocolates with a note that read, “Check yes or no.” It was a nod to a country song we loved- and yes, I checked yes. Years later, he planned to propose on my birthday. The day before, I casually mentioned I hoped he wouldn’t- I don’t love big groups focused on me, and I didn’t want to share my birthday with our anniversary. Oops. So he pivoted. The night before my birthday, he rushed me down to the beach near our house, not telling me anything but to run. Slightly panicked and very confused, I followed. When we got there he sat me down on the swing overlooking the lake and just before midnight, he asked me to marry him- making sure our anniversary would be April 14th. Listing them all would be a little too much- the spontaneous adventures we’ve shared throughout the years have been incredible. We can’t wait to spend forever together. 🤍
