What was supposed to be a temporary adventure turned into something much more permanent. While travel nursing in California, Jess joined a dating app just to meet people during her short time away from home in Colorado—then she matched with Brent. Their first date was at a brewery in Orange, where she arrived a little (2 hours) late after learning an important lesson about California traffic. Thankfully, Brent was patient, and the two quickly realized how easy it was to talk, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company. Somewhere between that first date and many adventures after, she didn’t just fall in love with Brent—she fell in love with California too. In January, Brent planned a special evening on the beach in Laguna Beach just as the sun was setting. With the ocean as the backdrop and their families nearby, he got down on one knee and asked the question that would start their next chapter. Of course, she said yes.
