They first met at the University of Nevada, Reno fitness center. Lilly noticed the Bible verse Isaiah 41:10 on Hunter’s gym shorts and complimented them. After a short conversation about their shared Christian beliefs, Lilly had walked away before Hunter could ask for her name or phone number. Funny enough, they were reunited through an anonymous college social media platform, and began sharing their interests, hobbies, and had plenty of conversations about their faith - all without realizing who the other was. While Hunter and Lilly had been talking every day since then, it wasn’t until Hunter’s photography hobby prompted a trip to Lake Tahoe that they’d have the opportunity to meet in person - for what we thought would be the first time. Hunter had invited Lilly to come on the trip with a group of his friends, and Lilly happily accepted. The night before their trip to Lake Tahoe, Hunter and Lilly were at the fitness center and Lilly noticed someone wearing the Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭10‬ shorts again. When Hunter asked if she was at the gym and had walked past him, they were amazed to finally piece together that they already knew each other from that initial compliment! The next day at Lake Tahoe, they were the only two to show up for the trip and spent sunset in Emerald Bay together. On their way home, they had pulled over so they could take in the view of the stars, and when they both looked up, a shooting star shot across the sky signifying the start of their very special friendship, and the excitement leading up to the proposal!

On April 8, 2025, Hunter proposed to Lilly at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe. In the same spot their friendship truly began, they chose to begin another new and very special chapter of their lives together. While Hunter tried to keep the proposal a surprise, Lilly had actually found the ring by accident a few weeks beforehand and didn’t say a word! While waiting in anticipation, and knowing that Hunter would be moving to Wisconsin after his college graduation, Lilly bought Hunter’s wedding band. Shortly after Hunter got down on one knee and the couple celebrated, Lilly gifted Hunter his wedding band in advance. As we can tell, they are very eager to share their special day with the people they love most on May 16, 2026!
