Let’s go back to the end of our freshman year of High School. Daniel and I had a few classes together that year and we would always talk to each other but just as friends. We both went to First Baptist Church and were involved in the same youth group that went to a church camp in Daytona that summer. While we were at camp we started talking and hanging out with each other a little more. Once sophomore year came around we started to hit it off. He asked me to be his Homecoming date one morning before school. Of course, I said yes! We then went to Homecoming and after that, I knew he was the one for me. It was not until the end of November till we made things official between us, but pretty much after that night at Homecoming it was official. Ever since November 28, 2015, we have always been by each other's side for everything. We have always supported each other from late nights at the soccer field or late nights at a dance recital. Fast forward a little bit to us moving to college at Valdosta State. Although we both went to VSU we hardly saw each other during the week. He was busy with all of his classes, and I was just as busy trying to balance school and teaching dance back in Thomasville. Somehow we made it work for us to see each other while still getting all our school work done. During our time in college, it was a little hard because halfway through my sophomore year I moved back home and he stayed in Valdosta. It was hard at first because we were not able to see each other as much as usual but we still made it work. Daniel graduated from VSU in May of 2021 and then we got engaged that July. He is still so shocked that he was actually able to surprise me. He loves to remind me that I was so clueless that day. But I love that I was so clueless because it made it even more special. July 31, 2021, is a day that we will never forget! Once I graduate from VSU in May, we will then be counting down the days until October 8th.
