Tyler and Deanna's love story began in April 2018 in the bustling metropolis of Harker Heights, TX. Like many modern romances, it all started with a swipe right (unless you ask Tyler, then it was definitely love at first sight in the Starbucks line). Their actual first date was, fittingly, at Starbucks, Tyler’s favorite coffee haven. But the real plot twist came later that evening when Tyler volunteered to help Deanna grade papers for two hours. Ladies and gentlemen, that was the true test. If you can survive a pile of eighth-grade atoms calculations, you’re either a keeper or a glutton for punishment. At the time, neither Tyler nor Deanna realized they were beginning the first chapter of their love story. They became best friends, the kind of friends who could talk for hours without running out of things to say. Life took them in different directions—Tyler moved back to Las Cruces, New Mexico, while Deanna continued teaching in Killeen, Texas. Despite the distance, their friendship thrived. They spent countless hours on the phone and managed to see each other about once a year. Their connection remained steadfastly platonic... until May 2023. That spring, Deanna and her mom, Christy, planned a trip to New Mexico to explore the National Parks. Tyler invited them to stop by Las Cruces, where he offered to be their tour guide. The day included off-roading adventures in Christy’s shiny new Bronco, complete with plenty of laughter, New Mexican cuisine and just a bit of dust (sorry, Christy). After a fun-filled day, the trio said their goodbyes. But during Tyler and Deanna’s farewell hug, something shifted. It wasn’t just a friendly goodbye—it was a ~moment~. Sparks flew, and both of them felt it. From that day forward, everything changed. They began talking every day that summer, and by the time Tyler visited Deanna in Killeen, it was clear they were no longer just best friends. On November 20, 2023, Tyler proposed at Emory Pass in the breathtaking Gila National Forest. Deanna said yes, and the rest is history. Now, they’re eagerly counting down the days until they can officially begin their next chapter as husband and wife. Tyler and Deanna are thrilled to share their joy and excitement with all their loved ones!
