Like many good stories from 2020, theirs started unexpectedly. When the world shut down and college students everywhere were sent home, both Matt and Cydney found themselves looking for summer jobs. Matt had just started managing operations at HeatherRidge Golf Course and asked Brenna, a Bridesmaid and a former coworker of his, to reach out to anyone who might be interested in working there. Enter Cydney, who accepted the interview assuming “Matt” was probably a middle-aged golf course manager… not a former high school classmate. As Matt still loves to tell it, he hired Cydney and quickly realized they made a pretty great team. It wasn’t until Reid, one of the Best Man, came to town to live and work with Matt and his brother Chris, the other Best Man, that the two guys decided to take Cydney and Brenna on a double date that things really took off. The four of them spent the summer together making the best of a very strange time in the world. Long days at the golf course somehow turned into one of the most fun and meaningful summers of their lives. By the end of summer, Matt returned to school for his senior year, while Cydney began graduate school. Distance was not always easy, but it strengthened their relationship and made them certain about what they were building together. Since then, Matt and Cydney have grown side by side through every season of life — moving in together, becoming proud dog parents, supporting each other’s goals, and creating a life they are incredibly proud of. After 4 years together they made the move to Tennessee knowing they were ready for the next chapter: marriage. They cannot wait to celebrate with all of their favorite people as they begin this next season together, chase their dreams, and someday grow their family.
