(Maddy) We first were introduced when Josh moved in with Jackson Andersen, one of my closest friends, and we quickly became inseparable. That summer and fall were filled with hiking, Hires milkshakes, Jazz games, studying, and a standing late-night grocery shopping appointment every weekend. We fell in love over the course of a million little things. I always wanted Josh as my plus-one. He was willing to help me with anything. Everyone asked if we were together. After several months of becoming even closer, Josh kissed me one night, and as I drove home, I knew that he was the one! Eight months later, we were engaged, and we can't wait to celebrate our love with our friends and family in May!
(Josh) I took Maddy up Big Cottonwood Canyon for what was supposed to be a dinner date. She had gotten really suspicious recently, so I threw out some confusing signals and successfully convinced her that nothing would be happening that night. Since we arrived early for the "reservation," we walked out to explore the dock on frozen Silver Lake, where lights, lanterns, and blankets had been arranged. The temperature was below 20 but it was a beautiful and quiet night. I unconvincingly swore I had nothing to do with the set-up and made what must have been aggravating small talk for a few minutes, then told Maddy how much I loved her, knelt down, and asked her to marry me.
